Reading about "A Tale of Two Sisters" (well creepy) on IMDB. Phone rings:

-Hello?
-"Hello?"
-Hello?
-"Hello."
-Who's this?
-"Eddie."
-Who are you looking for?
-"You."
-Oh yeah? What do you want?
-"I wanna know if you wanna buy some chicken."
-Chicken? How much?
-"5 dollars."
-Dollars? I only have pounds.
-"OK, 10 pounds then."
-I don't know, I kinda late for chicken.
-"Oh. OK then."
-OK, bye.

So just because I live in London I have to pay 4 times as much for chicken?

Well, that depends what the poster is for, in the first place. For the Brand Obama poster, the source for the poster was an article I was using for a news-zine project called The Vacant. This article was about Desirée Rodgers, who is a social secretary to the Obama family, and therfore handles most of the PR for them, and ultimately their output thinking in branding terms. So that's where the idea of illustrating the article by using abstract concepts, like "change" and "progress", used as slogans in the electional campaign, and presenting them as actual products that can be bought.

The definite vintage/1950s aesthetic i used came from a paragraph in the article where some other PR guy talks about how the Obama family are presented as the idyllic family... like out of a 1950s sitcom. And the fact that I love old ads from the fifities and sixties, and how the same basic visual language is used in commercial advertisement as in political and military propaganda.

thanks i was about to say a lot of your stuff seems very vintage in a sense..
i pull a lot of inspiration from material from the 50's to 70's..

you've kinda put me on the spot and im struck for question

but im sure ill think of some soon and will be asking you advice on design for a long time.. O_o

if its not to much would you mind sending me that texture you made?..
i understand if you dont want to because its yours and all
